Hi Gear Portable Gas Heater - Not too great in extreme weather, 21 December 2011
By sunny (colindale)
Bought this heater a couple of months ago. Generally it is a great heater. Last week, I took it with me for an overnight beach fishing trip in Dungenness in Kent where the temperature was a -2 C. Had trouble trying to get the heater to work because the gas canister had frozen up and thereby restricting the gas supply to the heater. Perhaps the manufacturers should take this factor into consideration and improve on its performance.

A must have..., 19 July 2011
By Jo33 (Rotherham)
This has got to have been one of our best buys for camping - a must have for those cold nights and mornings! To say it is such a compact item it gives out quite a lot of heat, definately enough to make a real difference and keep you warm. It is also very sturdy, so no danger of knocking it over. Would not go camping without it now. An excellent product!

HiGear Portable Gas Heater, 25 June 2011
By VWCamperman (Wakefield)
What can I say? absolutely delighted with this little gem, the awning can get pretty chilly at night/early morning and this heater is the business, ventilation is an obvious requirement but if you warm the space on full for 10 minutes or so you will soon be turning this heater down!

Better than my Central Heating, 21 June 2011
By Hays9a (Manchester)
Bought this Heater as a new tent pressie for my daughter who was new to camping and was trying out her rather big tent for the first time at the weekend, we were all sat round having a game of cards on the first night and it started to go a bit chilly so out came this lil heater and wow within a minute the tent was was so cosy and warm none of us could belive it, needless to say i was straight down to GO Outdoors on my return to get one for myself.

First time campers! Never sure what to buy as the mainstay of camping. So glad we added this to our trolly. Used it to just warm the tent on cold mornings and evenings, made camping so much nicer on them cold days

Cracking Heater, 30 May 2011
By Mojo_uk (Coventry)
Bought this heater as I couldn't get a pitch with electric hook-up this weekend. It is a fantastic heater and kept us all warm and cosy in the Vango Icarus 500 I was using. Only needed it on a low heat even though it was very chilly outside at night. Can not find a fault with it!

My new best friend, 16 May 2011
By Leanne (Bracknell)
We bought two of these heaters when they were on offer, such a saving it worked out to be two for one.

I went camping this weekend and I am so pleased I had these little beauties. The tent was freezing cold when we returned and these certainly warmed it up. We have a big tent so in a smaller tent I'm sure it would be even better.

These are coming with me each and every time.

Great value little heater!!, 14 May 2011
By LisaJH (Farnborough)
Got this heater as a "just in case" piece of equipment fora camping trip in April this year and although the weather was great it was still pretty chilly at night. This heater made the tent really cosy to sit in and chat till late. Only used one can of gas over 3 nights so really impressed - will takeit on all camping trips from now on. Great value!!

Hot Heater, 07 May 2011
By Happy Daddy (Stockport)
Great little heater, we got it when going away last October (my 40th) to Wales. For a small gas heater it warms up fast and no complaints about the cold. Used it for short time when getting dressed / changed.

Must have piece of Equipment!, 20 July 2010
By Al (Newcastle)
I know you are supposed to rough it when camping, but hey it's 2010 this takes the edge off those chilly evenings and mornings and will last 2 hours on full belt per can of gas.

If it wouldn't scar me for life, I'd give it a hug., 04 May 2010
By Ali (Oxfordshire)
This is such a nice addition to my camping kit. We had it on the lowest setting during a very wet and cold camping trip. With a newborn and a nursing mother in the tent, It took the edge off the temperature at the low level and we used less than 2 canisters over the course of the weekend. Probably about 10-12 hours of use. Very stable, very easy to use. I would only use in a tent with plenty of head room... on full the heat was quite intense.

Does the job !, 25 January 2010
By Chris (Yorkshire)
Have used this heater a few times in our large (9 pers.) tent with temps down to freezing.
Find that it is quite powerful for its size, nice stable base, easy to obtain refills but only lasts a few hours on full !
Overall, we rate it good value.
