Berghaus Men's Explorer Ridge Boots, 15 November 2011
By Icke (North East)
Truly awesome footwear from Berghaus once again, these boots are very much sufficient for the three out of the four seasons, the first boots in my life i might add i have been able to slip on and walk vast distances without prior agonising breaking in required. Take some time out to do some competitive shopping and you can grab these for a fantastic price. If like myself you appreciate good investments and require complete peace of mind, then don't think, “BUY” as you've got nothing to lose in regard to quality and value with Berghaus…their items don’t last months but YEARS remember that!!

Great boots straight from the box. First walk 13 mile Sidmouth Saunter and only had a small blister on the bal of one foot. Second walk 8 Miles South West Costal Path, felt so comfortable I brought my wife a pair and she loves them too.
Comfortable Walking Boots, 30 August 2011
By mentalhibby (Chesterfield)
Although I've spent my working life wearing boots I was a still not looking forward to putting on a new pair when I took up hill walking recently. However I needn't have worried as these feel like carpet slippers in comparison to my usual protective boots.
No blisters whatsoever. Comfortable walking down steep slopes as well as up, giving an assured confidence on wet ground and rocks. Can't praise them enough. Yes there are cheaper alternatives but these are worth every one of my hard earned pounds.

i dont do that much "off road" waking, i got them more of an everyday boot that would be guarenteed to keep me dry. i picked them because of the berghaus & gortex brands, as well as looking quite smart. the best footware i have ever owned. the souls absorb shock very well, they are very cumfy out of the box, imagine wearing a big pair of slippers, and the breathable gortex inner stops your feet sweating and the boots smelling. iv not had much chance to test the boots in really wet weather, but considering their pedegree im sure they will perform well. my advice is to search the net for them first. i found them cheaper at another store, but go outdoors matched and then reduced them by another 10%

Great Boots, 15 July 2011
By Azrael852 (Durham)
Bought these back in January for a bargain price and have used them every day since over the local countryside & woodland terrain walking the dog, knocking up over 2000km in them .
Since day one they have been dry, blister free, and very comfy. No issues with rubbing but I have worn out a few pair of socks in them.
Sole is now starting to wear down fast, but the have outlasted the last pair of boots by a good 1000km (over the same ground) .
All I used was a bit of beeswax now and again to keep the leather supple and washed them down with a hse when muddy.
Definately recommend them , just waiting for the price to come down again on the next special and I'll be getting me next pair!

Brilliant Boots, 02 July 2011
By Graeme N (Northumberland)
Bought these 13 months ago using price match and they have never failed to deliver. Never a wet foot, never a sore foot, no blisters, always comfortable. I use them almost every day, mainly for dog walking (Siberian Husky), in a variety of terrains including mud and snow, along river banks and up in the Cheviot hills & Simonsides. I Nikwax them once a week and apart from a few creases in the leather, are still good as new, after what must be approaching 1000 miles of use. Defo recommend.

Fantastic Boots (and GREAT service from GO), 15 May 2011
By Mr Chef (Wootton Bassett)
These originally caught my eye online so visited the Swindon store to try them on. I was looking for something not too cheap but not too expensive. Tried them on and they felt good. Also tried on a few others including Meindl (Just like a top of the range Duvet cuddling your feet, but at £165 I could not justify it to the Mrs)
Purchased the Berghaus for under £80 using their price match on Friday evening.
Saturday morning straight into a 10 mile hike through Savernake Forest with Cubs and Scouts on the JOTT.. What can I say except brilliant. They fitted from the first moment, no rubbing, no aching - and these are boots straight out the box.
When walking on hard ground I can hear the thud as my foot hit the ground but could not feel the shock hitting my foot.
Being leather and material they offer a great mix of waterproof and breatheability.
It really is worth spending a few extra pound notes. You can buy a similar looking boot from another make for half the price or less but will they be kind to your feet?
Next challenge is a 20 mile hike in June followed by a 26 mile hike in September and I have every faith in the boots.

bought theese after trying several pairs of boots and they have been comfy from the first time on. So far have done some local and north yorks moors walking and also Helvellyn via striding edge and the boots have performed very well. No blisters although longest walk only 10mile and my feet have stayed dry in some very wet and boggy conditions.

First outing with new boots was a 10 mile walk covering varied terrains. Beach, road, and wet muddy Woodland hill climb. Feet were snug, warm and dry. Also easy to clean afterwards. I am looking forward to more walks soon. I bought these on the strength of the reviews, and strongly recommend these boots. Well deserved 5 stars.
EXPLORER RIDGE BOOTS, 24 February 2011
By Philjo (South Wales)
Purchased these boots instore. Extremely comfortable fit. Due to time constraints I was unable to break them in properly. Took them up and over four peaks in the Brecon Beacons today and they coped very well. No problems encountered through mud and water, kept my feet dry. No rubbing or blisters either. Well worth the money paid.

Very Pleased, 11 October 2010
By Mike.A
Walked 8 miles in 2 hrs in these boots, so gave them a good test, (fields, tow path and some roads). Had no problems with any blisters or rubbings. Very comfortable and quite light weight. Decent enough tread, which offers a little more forgiveness, that some other soles, on the road surface. Have recently tried them, going through wet grass, which soon finds any weakness, but pleased to say, that they passed the test and kept my feet dry. Have treated the leather with a nourishing/waterproofing cream and the fabric parts with Nikwax.
Would recommend these boots, well worth the £100.

bought these boots to do the three peaks challenge. although comfortable from the box they took about a week to break in properly. combinded with decent socks these boots are brilliant i climbed ben nevis, scafell pike and snowdon in 24 hours and felt comftable throughout and had no blisters feet were allowed to breath easily and could'nt of been put through a much stiffer test. walked through fords and streams accross rocks and scree with no problems. i tried on lots of boots before buying these (including top end ones) and am really pleased with them, can't recommend highly enough

Bought these before Xmas and very impressed.
Were like a second skin throughout the harsh winter and feet were dry and blister free.
Completed a 26 mile charity walk in them and feet were fine.
Have done a little hillwalking over last couple of months and they are well up to the task - Can highly recommend them.
Superb Boots, 26 January 2010
By Angelchops (Wolverhampton)
I bought a pair of these to walk Hadrian's Wall last year and replace my previous boots which were worn out. What can I say, they're brilliant. Very comfortable, cool, they don't leak and no blisters. I absolutely love them to bits. At the time I was disappointed I couldn't afford a pair of Meindl Burma's but i'm glad I went for these now. My only criticism and it's very slight is the lack of Vibram soles. These use Berghaus's own which are good but not quite as grippy. As I say a very minor point - they're great in every other way.
