Ah warmth !, 19 December 2011
By Rodd (Kent)
A seriously warm fleece that is great as part of a layering system. Not windproof - go for a Hobart if you need warmth and wind proof.,-or wear a hardshell / windshirt over the top. It is generously cut so you can wear it over 1-2 base layers . However its bulky so may be an issue fitting it in a back pack.

Berghaus Men's Activity Jacket IA, 10 March 2011
By blacksmithbob (Hampshire)
I have to agree with Gavin below about the jacket and me probably having a fat neck. I wear it zipped into a Cornice jacket, and on really cold days like to wear a headover (a neck tube thing) and find I can't do the jacket up fully. Other than that, a warm, well made and comfortable fleece.

Excellent, 12 January 2011
By Gavin
One of the warmest fleeces I have owned. Love it in the cold weather as a warm jacket and a mid layer under a shell.
Only niggle is that its so bulky and warm, that around the neck under a shell jacket can be a bit tight to do shell jacket up around the neck. Of course that could be me having a fat neck!
Not wind proof or waterproof, pricey compared to others but so lovely and warm. Only other fleece im considering buying is the double pile Rab fleece.

Very capable, 28 December 2010
By Jasper
I have owned one of these for almost a year and it has coped well over a broad range of conditions but as a stand alone jacket it may leave you wanting.

Obviously as a polar fleece it is not waterproof but it is also not wind proof and this one in particular, seems to let the wind cut right through it. This may be due to the excellent breathability and if you use this jacket as it was designed to be used, as an intermediate layer below a waterproof shell, then it will definitely keep you plenty warm enough.

The Berghaus name assures you of the quality of the item and after a years hard use there is not so much as a loose thread on mine, but when it does come time to replace it, it will be with another Berghaus. Overall an excellent jacket, high quality materials and workmanship, very warm and breathes well, but loses a star for poor protection from the wind

This is a high quality fleece that I have warn throughout the extreme weather in January. It keeps you warm as a liner or on its own and is very comfortable to wear. Ideal!
