Super little torch. Bit more expensive, but gives out much more light. Its a shame it doesnt have a dimmer setting for reading map at night (red beam means you cant read contour lines) or just for a spot of reading in bed. I take a set of flat batteries if i remember! Looking forward to getting hold of Petzl's "Core" rechargable battery pack which is compatable with most of its headlights. Seems really stirdy, just gets chucked in the lid of my sack, gets wind, rain, sun, snow!...still going strong!

petzl worth the money, 20 April 2010

Had a few head torches mainly cheaper brands which have either developed faults or been poorly built. What i like about the tikka xp2 is the strength of the beam for a small unit plus its push button switch rather than a slider type (a slider tends to get turned on by accident and waste batteries). Definitely worth the money but at this price would be nice if they provided a little pouch to protect the lens for travel.
