I bought this jacket for a number of reasons, but mainly it was its reliability in some of the worst weather conditions that swayed my decision (highlighted in previous reviews), and after a stint at the top of Ben Wyvis in some extreme blizzard conditions I can confirm its as good as the reviews say it is. There is however one problem that I found to be evident. That is the hood, this can be very frustrating to fasten on the move or if caught short in the rain/sleet and snow, other than that a very good piece of kit. Definitely worth a look if you want a light, warm and waterproof jacket.

This jacket is very useful as a winter waterproof for colder conditions. For summer it's better for a single skin. It is lined for warmth, but not too much to make it super bulky.
The kangaroo style front pouch is extremely handy! I found it great to put my camera in, or a map, or if your a climber it's great to put the guidebook in there for long multi-pitch climbs.
On top of this it is a really good looking jacket!
The only con I could find is that it must be washed with nik-wax to maintain it's waterproofness, however this is a small inconvenience when the jacket is this good.

It takes a very long time to part me with my money, however buying the Paramo Velez Smock was worth every penny! It's soft & comfortable to wear & virtually silent to move around in. It is incredibly breathable and yup, 100% waterproof!
