Paramo Alto 2 Jacket, 18 September 2011
By Barb (Bolton)
Bought this jacket in the summer when there was a sale on. A lot of money to part with but had the first big test last weekend with the rain. We went walking and the heavens opened with very heavy downpours and true to their word my jacket was perfect. It is so lightweight it feels like you aren't wearing one! Money well spent in my opinion and one of the best jackets I have ever had.

Paramo Alta II Ladies' Jacket, 05 September 2011
By Lucy B
I've worn my Paramo Alta II in many challenging conditions: downpours in the Aussie outback, snowboarding in the Alps and Munro bagging in changeable Scottish weather. How did it cope? To my surprise it stood up to Paramo's marketing claims and kept me perfectly dry, even in that delightfully Scottish phenomenon of horizontal rain. The only catch - as other reviews online make clear - is that for it to be completely effective, you need to keep moving; 10 minutes rest against against a soaking rock, for example, will definitely let the water in. Also note you'll need to wash your jacket every so often in Nikwax's special waterproofing potion, as a bit of dirt stops the fabric working as well, but I've not found it a hassle to do this. Features? The chest pockets will fit an OS map, and the peaked roll away hood is perfect - fits a climbing helmet, and can be adjusted.
Overall, this is a really great jacket. The *only* reason I didn't give it 5 stars is the fit, which is pretty terrible considering it's a ladies jacket. As you can see from the photo above, the fit is...square....not feminine at all! Also, extra fabric around the waist is pretty annoying in gale conditions. If Paramo could amend it to a slightly more fitted shape then the Alta II would be perfect.

Price Match, 24 June 2011

I have been a fan of Paramo for years and so bought this coat for my wife. I saw that it was cheaper on line and not only did Go Outdoors match the price but knocked 10% off as well
