Fantastic jacket., 15 December 2011

I had done some research and then also being told by a friend about hoe good Paramo gear is. Initially I deliberated over paying so much for a jacket but after great reviews and good feedback word of mouth I decide to save up to puchase an Alta 2. I was amazed to discover after looking on your website that they were on offer recently knocking of at least £100 on the RRP. That just added to my delight and I bought one straight away.
I wear mine regularly and more so very recently in the heavy rain + cold that is hitting our shores. I was amazed by how waterproof the garment really is and the water really does just roll off. I have other brands of lighter Gore-tex clothing but the added weight of this jacket makes you feel that little warmer than a regular Gore-tex does, and if wearing a suitable base-layer underneath then you are well catered for. The venting system on the sleeves is great and helps when you do get warmed up but without having to unzip too much like you normally do with other garments.
I am very pleased with my purchase and would highly recommend this particular Paramo jacket to anyone, even at the RRP price - and to be honest I wouldn't now regret even paying the full price because of how good it really is. I was just very lucky to snatch one up in the sale. If you are a serious outdoor type and are looking at buying a new jacket for all that the elemnts throw at you, then look no further than this jacket.

Bought this after it being recommended by users. The feel and the fit is great. The two way front zip is a bonus when sitting down, the loop on the front pocket is used for my compass and the map pocket is very roomy - i was advised that this pocket wasnt waterproof when I was sold it but my maps are anyway. This has been tested in all seasons and requires minimal base layers when you're building up a head of steam as it gets very warm but the venting system helps. I would say that the contents of the zip pockets seemed to get wet but I wonder if that was from me or the ver heavy rain I was in at the time - I was bone dry inside though. It has two foam strips in the back for more comfortable rucksack carrying and packs down pretty small and light considering its size. The wired fold away hood is also great allowing you to customize it. It does seem to take a while to dry after a real soaking in heavy downpours so I've washed it and re-waterproofed it as per the recommended instructions with the Nickwax products but it hasn't seen rain since so hopefully all will be well and the product review will follow. Altogether I would highly recommend this and I wouldn't buy any other brand for serious walking/backpacking.

I was recommended Paramo clothing by a fellow walker "in the know". I chose this coat over the Cascada jacket as it's a bit shorter which suits my smaller frame better. The jacket has taken everything that mother nature has thrown at it with ease. The fabric is vastly superior to my goretex jacket being non-rustle and almost silky-smooth. The pockets are waterproof (unlike some other jackets) and are well sized. You could also consider using this jacket for Skiing as a small loop is attached to the chest which is perfect for holding a lift pass. All in all purchasing this jacket has forced my goretex coat into semi-retirement and when coupled with the Cascada trousers gives an awesome weatherproof system - highly recommended!
