Outwell Nevada M Tent, 02 January 2012

Although in our 60s and new to camping, back in May 2011 we decided to buy a tent to join friends taking their campervan to France in June. We had a look at Decathalon and Go Outdoors. At Go Outdoors we came across a family experienced in camping and they pointed out the Outwell superiority over the others, plus there was an extra £50 off the already discounted price so we took the plunge. We have been delighted with our purchase and have soon got used to putting it up and taking it down. The plastic pegs supplied are rather poor in anything other than soft ground, bending over if hard ground hit but this is a relatively minor point as other, stronger pegs can be bought.
Despite ribbing from friends we've also bought the carpet which we have found to be of great benefit. Have still to decide whether to get a footprint; been using a sheet bought from B&Q cut to size.
We had one night of thunderstorms when in France and the tent stood up to it well - no leaks. Also, we've been surprised how effective the tent is in shielding us from the wind.
In addition to our French trip we've used the tent a number of other times including accommodating my daughter and 3 children on a two day trip to Blackpool, although my daughter slept in the 'living' area.
Overall we would thoroughly recommend this tent.

Bought this tent complete with footprint and carpet and its like home from home. I have used it now about 6 week ends and I only bought it last August, its fantastic. Its easy to put up with just my partner and I, 20 minutes and the kettle is on!
If I was being super critical i would prefer Zip in Curtains, available on much more expensive models, otherwise 5 stars no problems at all

We chose this tent for its windows, spaciousness and rain resistance and just spent a week on a sandy cliff top in Cornwall, the first part of which was in the tail end of a hurricane ..... no leaks, despite near-monsoon rains; withstood very high winds and mega-gusts - even better when we actually engaged the velcro straps of the 'wind stability system' round the poles - doh! The central inner pole really gives added stability by bracing the two sections in the living area, maybe the previous reviewer who was worried about stability didn't use this? On the worst of the nights, with an exceptional storm predicted from the remnants of the hurricane, we did back up the pegs on the guys with additional metal pegs - but then everyone else on the site was doing the same - those who didn't pack their tents away for the storm, that is! The tent did a lot of shaking in the gusty winds that night, but survived intact and stayed dry - what an adventure!
The ventilation and daylight in this tent is fantastic, and we didn't find it drafty even though it was so windy. We liked that the curtains can fold down half way, giving us great light and views of our surroundings but retaining privacy.
We opened up the inner sleeping area divider, which meant that for two of us we had extremely spacious sleeping arrangements as well as a roomy living area, which comfortably fit our table/bench combo as well as two fold up chairs, two cooking rings, a couple of plastic crates, two lots of climbing kit & ropes, day sacks and 2 holdalls.....we don't travel light! :O)
The inner pockets were really useful for keeping torches, maps, and small breakables / gadgets handy and out of harm's way.
We bought the tent carpet after a lot of debate about carpets in tents and the cost - and we were glad of it - it added that extra cosyness and made plodding about in bare feet a pleasant experience.
We think we made a good choice. The only tiny disappointment was not getting an Outwell mat in the tent pack, which we thought was supposed to be there, but we took an old towel that did the job pretty well.
