A versatile mid-sized pack, suitable for hikes and walks requiring a large amount of gear.
The Osprey Talon 33
combines comfort and convenience, with a large amount of space for all of your hiking gear.
It features Osprey's AirScape back panel, which has foam ridges to allow air to circulate around your back, keeping you cool and dry. The harness is adjustable to match your height, and is padded with die-cut foam and BioStretch mesh for a comfortable and secure load.
On the outside of the pack there are several storage solutions for carrying your gear. The Stow-on-the-Go walking pole loops allow you to easily attach your poles without removing the rucksack, while twin loops allow easy carriage of an ice axe. On the front of the pack there is a large stretch pocket, ideal for keeping wet clothing separate from the rest of your gear. There is additional storage from zipped pockets on the hip belt and on the top lid, with mesh side pockets ideal for drinks.
- LED bike light attachment point and reflective graphics for visibility.
- Compression straps on sides and on double-buckled lid.
- Sternum strap with emergency whistle.
- External hydration sleeve for quick refills.
- Internal key attachment clip.

Great daysack! Best I've ever bought, 16 August 2015
By Garth_43 (Chesterfield)
I've had my Talon 33 daysack for 4 years now and I am absolutely over the moon with it! It has had almost daily use over those 4 years. I use it to carry heavy books and laptops etc. to uni/work and of course as an outdoor daysack on weekend excursions into the Peak and other playgrounds.
After this constant use, it is still going strong. It is not fraying anywhere, the stitching is still solid and sound, it is not wearing in any places as of yet and after a wash (it has only had one respectively), it still looks brand new.
It's size is perfect for daysack use and you can fit a lot in it. Even heavier weights are distributed evenly across the back and shoulder areas making it comfortable to wear.
It's only downsides are:
a) it wets out easily, even in light rainy conditions and doesn't have a built-in waterproof cover so I'd advise buying a good one and storing perishable goods in drysacks if going out on days when rain is forecast.
b) its side pockets are a bit tight and could be a bit more generous to fit larger liquid vessels to free up more room inside the main compartment.
That said, all flaws are easily workable and are worth putting up with to own this great daysack. Its still going strong after 4 years of almost daily use and it has many years left in it. I paid £50 for mine from a local climbing festival but I'd pay the £80/90 price tag to have another as you really do get a quality rucksack that will stand the test of time. I've bought cheap daysacks before but they perish quickly with regular use and I could spend £100+ on cheap daysacks over the same time scale this Talon 33 will last me so it is definitely worth the money!
Osprey Talon 33 M/L, 05 June 2015
By Andypips (Berkshire, UK)
Go Outdoors offers a good price and the delivery was reasonable. As it happened I picked the wrong size for my specific needs - a daysack. I bought a 22L version from another online source as it was cheaper (c.£7.or so). Nothing wrong with the 33L but more relevant to carrying additional items for a daysack application (e.g. picnic items or full wet-weather gear). No problem with GO Outdoors as I would always look to see what they offer.
I do have a minor issue with M/L sizing (affecting size of belt-harness) but that's between me and Osprey, not GO Outdoors.
Talon 33 multiday lightweight near perfection, 27 May 2015
A great pack. I get 5 days' lightweight hiking gear (not ultra-light) in it and it is very comfortable and stable. Only quibble is that the expanding side pouches do not expand quite enough for a 1litre plakky water bottle. But other than that can't fault it!
Comfortable Daysack, 20 March 2015
By RedRob (Goole)
A knowledgeable and helpful assistant loaded up four different daysacks for me and I spent the next 40 minutes walking round the store carrying each in turn whilst he explained the features of that particular pack. In the end it was between this and the Montane Cobra 25. For me this was the winner because it was slightly larger and felt more comfortable. I know it’s obvious but I would urge anyone thinking of buying a pack to do the same because to be honest before I carried this pack I wouldn’t have chosen it as it looked a bit ‘fussy’ and the material a bit lightweight, especially compared with the Montane.
I have taken it on two walks so far and managed to cram all my gear in without any trouble and found it to be extremely comfortable, in fact compared with the cheap Karrimor I used to use I hardly notice I am carrying it. I haven’t tried it in high temperatures yet so I can’t comment on how well the grooved foam back system works at stopping you sweating but so far I can’t fault it.
