Follow-on review, 30 October 2015
By KINDERgates (Sheffield, UK)
As a follow-on to my previous review, it seems as though the Osprey water reservoir has a manufacturing fault, which finally explains why, on a number of occasions since I bought it, my expensive rucsac has ended up soaking wet around its base - along with all my clothing around my lower back and backside (to the point where I can wring large amounts of water out of these garments). This completely ruins my walk, and is unacceptable in any product, let alone such an expensive one. The problem seems to be around the lower seal (where the tube exits the bag), and explains why even a small amount of water in the reservoir can result in a soaking for me. Very disappointed with this over-priced product, and this experience has really put me off buying any further Osprey products.
Not so good, 29 September 2014

I previously had a 'Source' one of these, and would have got another, but needed one fast.
This has a few problems:
1. As previous review said, the top cap can appear to be well tightened up, but isn't and leaks. You need to turn it upside down and test it.
2. There's no cover on the bit you drink from, so it dangles in the mud when you put the bag down.
3. The pipe can be very easily pulled off the bottom of the sac, resulting in everything in your bag getting soaked.
Buy a 'Source' instead.
Best reservior I've ever had -, 10 July 2014

Much better product than camelbak, hydrapak and all the rest!
Giving this a 3 out of 5 - the above user has clearly never used the competition.
Well thought out, very tough and simple to clean!
Well-made, but not perfect., 19 April 2014

I bought the 3 litre version of this hydration bag to use with my Osprey Talon 33 sac, and it is solidly-built, and has the advantage (over competitor's hydro bags) of having a rigid plate on one side, which makes filling a lot easier (although you could still do with 3 hands..). Like many of these bags, it has several design flaws - like the fact that you can't fill it to anywhere near full capacity and read the gauge at the same time, as water will come pouring back out of the huge filling hole if you do; you need to lay it flat, meaning that the gauge is useless. A word of warning to the uninitiated; it is possible to unwittingly cross-thread the big hole-cap, and the only way you'll know you've done so is when you lay down or invert the sac and water comes pouring out around the un-made seal. I regularly carry about £2000 worth of camera and other gear, and I came very close to having a very expensive walk! Expensive and by no means perfect, but overall, the best hydration bag I've had (and I've tried/seriously road-tested several!...).
