Ideal for walking in the UK, 04 April 2017
By Magnetic North (Holmfirth, West Yorkshire)
Although I doubt I would have considered this at the full-price, having bought the jacket in the sale, I’m delighted with it so far … and haven’t shared the other reviewers faults. The jacket is a well thought out shape, feeling to fit whether over multiple layers or a just a shirt; and packs down to surprisingly little when removed and carried. The red colour is bright and noticeable to traffic, and the two large pockets – obviously specifically designed around the dimensions of an OS map – are fantastic, and very useful if you don’t want to carry a rucksack. Overall I’m very pleased with it for intermediate mountain use. This isn’t high-end expedition gear I’d rely upon to keep me bone dry in challenging and potentially dangerous cold conditions; but for regular low-level hiking in the UK, this is recommended.

Dissappointing, 29 March 2017
By Dazza (Torquay)
When looking online for a nice lightweight breathable outer layer I resigned myself to this bargain of a jacket. On first glance - Amazing fit, plenty of stretch capabilities packs small and works well with the layering systems you can wear. BUT, on use torrential rain around Dartmoor with base layer and berghaus micro fleece, I was snug as a bug, dry-ish, so not that breathable, but not to the skin only surface moisture on the fleece arms. BUT MY BIGGEST BUG BEAR IS THESE CUFFS!!!!! Reading the reviews I am not the only one having issues with the damn cuffs. It lets down the product MASSIVELY! If they could stick to what works like VELCRO then ths jacket would be down as a 4 or 5 stars as I think it is great, comfortable and have recommended it but told them to sort out the cuffs. I have contemplated taking it back as only had it over a month but resigned to gaffer taping the velcro on.

used once, 03 January 2017
By paul (manchester) (Mossley, Ashton-Under-Lyne)
I bought this jacket for a lightweight rainproof jacket that would pack easily in to a rucsac but would meet the challenge when needed. It was chosen after a great deal of checking other jackets both on line and in store. The spec of the OEX 2.5 looked good and the design had thought put into it. First use was on a walking holiday on the peaks in La Palma. We started a walk from the observatory on a 2300 metre high track on the GR130. The temperature was 0 degrees and conditions icy under foot with heavy rain and a strong wind coming in sideways on our left hand side. This was the type of weather I hoped the jacket would protect me from. The walk was all down hill with no exertion. I was one of a party of four. The others were wearing either Montana or Mammut jackets. After half an hour of walking we stopped to sort ourselves out. I felt inside my jacket along the length of my arm and inside the front of my jacket. My fleece was wet.on the prevailing side to the wind and rain. Everyone else on the walk with me were bone dry. The jacket did not protect me from the elements and let me down. I returned it to store when back from the holiday.

Few design flaws, 30 December 2016
By Jim (Bristol)
Very good coat overall! Works brilliantly with different layering systems for scrambling and climbing. The fit is near perfect, accommodating multiple fleece and down layers without being too baggy when worn with just a baselayer. The colour is perfect for standing out on the mountains and the pockets are big enough for a full os map, spare gloves, penknife etc (per pocket!).

A handful of trips later however and I have noticed a few flaws:

Not very breathable at all and easily becoming wet inside when being active, good pit vents help combat this but be wary!

The hood cords have cut a hole in the outer layer where they need more reinforcement.

Wrist Velcro's are a strange design and have never held well and after a few hours and a couple of readjustments to allow use of gloves and changing different layers and they just flap around letting in ice, water and wind.

All in all this will perfectly work for anyone looking for a summer rain coat that can accept a helmet and weighs very little!

For more adventurous trips where durability and reliability are heavy factors look elsewhere.

Great quality for a very reasonable price, 16 October 2016
By Yegor (Coventry)
Matches the quality of jackets 3 times the price of this one. Very nice shape, good weather sealing, light and very compact.
