A tough semi-geodesic expedition tent, with excellent headroom and a roomy front porch - updated for 2016 with high quality Yunan T6 poles and a lower profile design.
The OEX Coyote II Tent
is ideal for expeditions, giving you all you need for comfortable
camping while weighing next to nothing,
and most importantly packing down to a size that won't slow you down.
Its semi-geodesic design, robust flysheet and groundsheet and aluminium
poles make it tough enough to protect you from stormy weather. The
groundsheet is pre-attached, making pitching easy and keeping
insects out, whilst the compact front porch gives you loads of room to store your wet
kit and boots.
New for 2016 are the Yunan T6 tent poles which,
with their Japanese grade Aluminium and bespoke Korean engineering, are
made to perform in all conditions whilst maintaining their integrity
over many years of use*.
The durable poly flysheet won't falter in arduous conditions, being very waterproof (rated to 5000mm) and treated with a fire-retardant
coating which will self-extinguish if exposed to flame.
Every OEX tent comes with a waterproof 'split bag', letting you divide
the tent into two parts and share the carrying load. Each carry bag has
pre-spaced buckle loops, so you can easily attach them to the outside of
the OEX Vallo Rucksack.

Add A Review
We were in need of a tent to protect us from the Scottish elements and this one certainly delivered., 24 September 2016
Altitude: 600 meters (1969 ft)
Weather: 80-90 mph winds – Gusting to 100mph// Torrential rain with brief respites for 12ish hours.
Conclusion: I’d take this review with a pinch of salt if you’re after a fair weather tent. This review is based around very very extreme weather and on reflection we probably should have re-assessed whether to go in the first place. With that in mind I’m ecstatic with the tent, it kept us dry and more importantly safe through the night and I believe in better conditions this tent would perform majestically. As such it will be accompanying us up many more Munros.
Pros: Very easy to put up and take down.
The pegs that came with the tent are light, yet solid. Even on harder ground.
The pole design was our main attraction to the tent as we knew we were going to be camping in the occasional extreme weather and we were proved right. At no point did the walls or roof cave in, on our main compartment.
The tent was completely dry the next morning in both compartments.
It retained heat really well so we were quite warm all night and we had no issues with condensation.
Cons: I’m 6ft 3 and even though it says there’s enough space I question that. It does feel a bit cramped when there are two of you.
Although the roof and walls are solid around the main compartment it was hard to make the door compartment taught so with the wind there was a bit of flapping happening which was extremely noisy. (The conditions were so bad though in better weather this would be less of an issue.)
The biggest Con: In the morning the outer door was half open where it had been blown open by the wind. I don’t think that would happen in normal weather; however a backpacking tent…
Our plan was to camp on the road side the night before climbing the Cairnwell Munros in Glenshee. After choosing a relatively flat spot and one we thought was slightly sheltered, we set up the tent at roughly 600ish meters at 16:30. The wind at this point was 30-40mph gusts; although the wind was strong, the tent is really easy to build up as the outer sheet comes in a separate bag to the inner sheet; all told it took no more than 20 minutes to fully set up. After eaten and settling down the conditions become increasingly terrifying 20:00. The winds increased to roughly 80-90mph with extreme gusts well over 100mph and extremely heavy rain. (I’m not sure what the operating parameters are for this tent but we definitely pushed them to the limit.) These conditions were unrelenting for the next 12 hours until we decided to pack up (which I should say took us 5 min) overall a thorough test in my opinion.
