I think I'm on to my third Turboflame and the second 'grenade' style. Yes, the gas settings can be temperamental (never really noticed any difference between the butane used), but when they do work, they work well. On all of them, after a couple of years, I've found the piezo device packs in or becomes temperamental, consequently my present one languishes in a drawer and I use a cheap flint thing (which can be relied upon to spark!) when I'm out on the hills and fancy a brew.
Great lighter - period, 19 August 2015

This is one of the most reliable and well-built lighters I've ever had (2 years now and this coming Christmas will be its 3rd year). It baffles me when reading negative comments that clearly show lack of simple common sense (as someone else noted: READ the INSTRUCTIONS!! ). First bleed the lighter (i.e., the same way you take out air from bicycle or car tyre – depress the refill valve and you hear hissing / discharge the excess air/gas from gas tank). Then use the correct brand of gas (NEVER use Swan or Ronson, instead use Colibri or Newport), then adjust (INCREASE) the flame screw at bottom centre of lighter (turn left towards the plus sign, keep going until you reach a one inch long blue flame (in a dark room so you can see the flame), if you still want to complain, go to McDonald's and complain about cold fries!!
No Good, 25 February 2015
Fine while they're working, but almost impossible to refill. Spent hours trying to bleed, adjust and refill the lighter. Spent more hours on internet forums trying to find what the problem is (this is obviously a common issue, as there's a lot of stuff out there). Feel like I've been robbed.
Read the Instructions!!!, 11 June 2014

I have had two Turboflames for several years and they both work great. I also see lots of poor reviews by people who obviously do not like to follow the instructions and therefore trash the product instead!!
First and most important, bleed the air out before refill. Next, fill up with recommended gas (Colibri or Newport). Also note when you initially get them from the store, the flame settings are low - increase flame screw to get a 2 cm flame. They work like a charm after that!
Not even worth one star, 26 March 2014

My local store had two of these on display.
One showed evidence of chipped paint so I bought the other one.
Took it home. Tried to fill it, but it wouldn't accept any gas and wouldn't light for more than a few milliseconds, so took it back to the store.
Tried another and that was just as bad so opted for a refund. While the assistant was sorting the paperwork, I tried a turbo 2 model as it was less than a couple of pounds dearer.
Worked a treat, so decided to pay the uplift.
The turbo 2 has a dual burner, integrated cover and also a gas level indicator, but no lock.
As for the GX7, a piece of junk by comparison.
Should be interesting to see how long the turbo 2 lasts, both between fills and before it gives up the ghost entirely (my confidence in this manufacturers products is sincerely diminished after my experience with the GX7).
