The town of Llanberis on the edge of the Snowdonia National Park is gearing up for its annual Mountain Film Festival, which takes place over this coming weekend (March 5th-7th).
With a mission statement of "exploring mountain culture and inspiring adventure, through the medium of film, photography, literature and lectures", the event may attract many people who like to head to the hills with their walking equipment
or climbing rope
There are five venues in the town for events during the weekend, including a marquee, the Dolbadarn Hotel, the Railway Theatre, the Electric Mountain Building and Y Gonalfan - the Llanberis community centre, with all the venues a short walk from each other.
Visitors to Llanberis can enjoy a huge range of mountain activities in the peaks overshadowing the town, including Snowdon itself.
The highest mountain in Wales can be ascended directly from the town via the Llanberis Path, which closely follows the line of the Snowdon Mountain Railway.
Other nearby peaks over 3,000 ft high include Y Garn, Elidir Fawr, Glyder Fawr and Glyder Fach.
