There will be 32 different guided hikes during the North Devon and Exmoor Autumn Walking Festival
in October, the Exmoor National Park Authority has noted.
Varying from four miles to ten in length, the programme promises to offer a range of hikes for all tastes, covering Exmoor and two Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty - North Devon and the Quantocks, giving people plenty of chance to use their walking boots
It also links up with two other events, the start of the Exmoor Food Festival
- with a number of culinary-themed events taking place - and the West Somerset Railway Autumn Steam Gala.
The latter event offers the chance to get on a train from Dunster to Washford and walk back to the start point.
Visitors to Devon during this period may wish to obtain some Ordnance Survey maps
to study the hikes in prospect.
Exmoor gained national park status in 1954, the same year the Yorkshire Dales came into being.
