An expert on hiking at a local newspaper covering part of the Lake District has celebrated penning her 500th route for the paper.
Fellwalker Mary Welsh has reached the landmark with the Westmorland Gazette, after 20 years in the role.
She said: "I love the Lake District and finding 500 walks, without repeating myself, has been a challenge that has given me a rare knowledge of this countryside."
Those putting on winter jackets
for a trek may wish to consider her latest route, around Elterwater, with the writer singling out the Langdales as her favourite part of the national park.
Ms Welsh has also had 19 books on walking in Scotland published, with two more on the way.
The Lake District locations that the writer could turn her attention to may be increased in the new year, if the government accepts Natural England's recommendations to expand the national park boundaries in two areas.
