Donning walking boots
and heading off to tackle a trail is one way of losing weight ahead of the summer holidays, an expert has advised.
Grub4life dietician Nigel Denby explained walking for an extra 30 minutes each day will help people lose around have a stone over the course of three months, even without making any alterations to their diet.
"Physical activity is critical, it is what generates muscle tissue," he explained, noting an outdoor walk incorporated into a person's daily routine can be "even more important" than doing "sudden bursts of exercise" in the gym.
Mr Denby stated it is not too late to begin shedding excess weight in time for a beach holiday, as implementing simple lifestyle changes can make a big difference.
Walking also has the potential to boost concentration and focus for individuals, as business expert Roger Harrop recently noted those who travel to work on foot have the opportunity to "think about the big picture".
