Those still struggling for ideas about how to mark the new year may wish to visit Dartmoor and don some men's outdoor clothing
or women's outdoor clothing
as the final sunset of 2009 approaches.
Dartmoor National Park Authority is holding a guided walk at Haytor on New Year's Eve, which starts at the lower car park at 14:00 GMT.
Lasting for three hours, the circular route will follow the line of Becka Brook and offer a view of the final rays of sunshine before the new year arrives.
By finishing when it does, the event will then allow those wearing men's walking boots
or women's walking boots
plenty of time to swap these for something else and head off to a party.
Some people choose to keep their walking gear
on and mark the arrival of a new year on the summit of a mountain.
Those doing this - who may benefit from taking rucksacks
containing extra warm clothing -could then see the first sunrise of the decade.
