A boulder erected as a work of art in a Stockport park is displaying signs of having been used by climbing enthusiasts, it has been suggested.
The British Mountaineering Council said that climbing chalk
marks have been appearing on the boulder, which is situated in Hollywood Park near the town centre and the M60.
It noted that the boulder has been made by Bendcrete Climbing Walls and there is clear evidence that many have been quick to make use of the new structure's possibilities.
Those keen to climb it will not have far to go to get some climbing hardware
, as the Stockport branch of Go Outdoors is less than a mile away.
Another place offering new chances to go climbing is Birmingham.
The Creation Climbing Centre in Balsall Heath is currently creating 220 new routes as it undertakes a revamp of its interior.
Earlier this month, it remarked: "The new routes have been widely welcomed and are a change to our past routesetting style."
