A chance to put on skiwear and enjoy some top sporting action awaits people heading to the Scottish Snowsports Festival
, which takes place in Edinburgh on Saturday (December 17th).
Skiers and snowboarders are set to compete for a combined prize fund of more than £1,000 during the event, with athletes doing battle in the Scottish Freestyle Invitational and the Nordic Cross - Super Sprint.
There will also be an artificial hill, roller ski tutorials and taster sessions for the less experienced.
David Rutledge of Snowsport Scotland said the event on Princes Street should "position Scotland on the international snowsports and winter festival
scene" after two winters in which skiing conditions in the Highlands have surpassed many overseas resorts.
will use real snow transported to Edinburgh from SNO!zone Scotland in Glasgow.
Elsewhere, the Nevis Range will be open for winter snowsports from Saturday, with a large number of runs and several lifts in operation.
