A major new campaign is set to be launched by Scottish Natural Heritage, promoting the health and leisure benefits of the countryside.
The body has signed up with PR firm The Big Partnership to work on an advertising programme to tempt Scots to enjoy the great outdoors.
Press and PR Manager for Scottish Natural Heritage Calum MacFarlane said: "We have a vital role to play in helping people understand, appreciate and enjoy nature, much of which is often on their doorstep."
Those seeing the publicity and prompted by it to go walking
, invest in some camping equipment
or put on their ski boots
may find the Go Outdoors store in Coatbridge just the place to get what they need.
Walkers living in the central belt might wish to start with the Loch Lomond National Park, which lies just north of Glasgow and includes the largest lake in mainland Britain, as well as mountains such as Ben More, Stob Binnein, An Castail, Beinn a' Chroin and Ben Lomond.
