A Scarborough woman has revealed she is to take on the Three Peaks Challenge to support her father who is suffering from terminal renal cancer.

Sarah Hoff will gather her climbing gear and participate with Macmillan this Saturday (July 9th), the Scarborough Evening News reports.

Ms Hoff stated that nurses from the charity have provided amazing support to her family since Derek was diagnosed with the disease in 2003.

She told the newspaper that he used to enjoy the route himself before his mobility was restricted.

"I know the challenge will be tough, but in comparison to my dad's battle it will be a walk in the park. Dad is the most positive person I know and I hope to borrow a fraction of his positivity to help me complete the gruelling 25 miles in 15 hours," Ms Hoff added.

The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge takes in Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough.
