Those keen on finding out about back-country skiing may wish to put their ski goggles
on and be at Scotland's Glencoe resort on January 8th.
In its latest email to ski fans, staff have advised the date will see the opening of the Avalanche Transceiver Training Park at 11:00 GMT, with the "legendary" Hamish Maciness carrying out the ceremony.
"So please if you have an interest in back country skiing, climbing or walking come along and support the opening," the communication added.
Such an event may offer another good reason to visit the resort, which has enjoyed enough snow to get its season underway, after early winter conditions saw fewer flurries than were experienced by other Scottish venues.
Cairn Gorm is one site where most lifts are presently open, offering red, green and blue runs to appeal to skiers of varying skill levels.
The Nevis range also has plenty of snow but has warned of blizzard conditions today (January 4th).
