A new video has been launched to encourage more people to go walking
The Ramblers has unveiled the short film as part of its Get Walking Keep Walking project, which explains the difference it has made to the lives of individuals who have taken up the activity.
Progress has included six out of ten previously inactive people increasing their levels of walking and 70,000 receiving packs from the organisation.
In Manchester and Salford, people who took up the activity started their own branch of the organisation and combine organised walks with campaigning on footpath issues.
Those living in the area and wishing to get kitted out may note there is a Go Outdoors store in Ancoats, central Manchester.
Walks people might enjoy in the area include paths along the banks of the River Mersey around Didsbury, Chorlton and Sale, while the Peak District is within close reach with its highest moors rising over 2,000 ft above sea level, such as Bleaklow and Kinder Scout.
