Those who like to go walking
in the Lake District will find some of the finest routes around Patterdale, with Helvellyn, Striding Edge and the Fairfield Horseshoe among the best of the walks in the area.
And Lake District national park rangers are arranging a challenging but scenic trek on May 6th in this area, starting in Deepdale and climbing to its hause before ascending St Sunday Crag and then descending into Patterdale.
Starting from Glenridding at 10:00 BST, the seven-hour trek covers 9.9 miles and walkers are asked to come well equipped, so hiking boots
and walking trousers
will be appropriate wear.
At 2,759 ft, St Sunday Crag is one of the higher muontains in the Lake District and often climbed in combination with Fairfield (2,864 ft), with the two linked by an often narrow ridge.
On a clear day, this route offers outstanding views over Ullswater, across to Helvellyn and down on Grisedale Tarn.
