Those who like to
go walking in the Peak District may wish to ring up the national park authority and grab a place on a guided walk due this Sunday (September 12th).
Starting at Chinley rail station at 10:30 BST, the event makes the most of the transport connections the national park has using the line between Manchester and Sheffield that passes through the area.
The walk will rise via Chinley Churn, South Head and Brown Knoll to Rushup Edge, looking down on the Vale of Edale before finally finishing at Edale Station, from where participants may get the train back home.
Participants are advised to bring
walking boots, a packed lunch and
waterproof jackets.
The line between the two stations passes through a long tunnel under the plateau between Brown Knoll and Rushup Edge, with an air vent being visible on the moor top.
Other ways of crossing from west to east include the bridleway from Hayfield to the Vale of Edale via Edale Cross and Jacob's Ladder.
