Chief executive of the Outdoor Industries Association Louise Ramsay commented that it is "really important" people are equipped properly for going outdoors.
She said that staff in outdoor gear shops "are experts in this field and can offer outstanding guidance based on their deep experience of preparing people for all weathers".
