Visitors to Exmoor National Park in Devon may find outdoor clothing is a wise investment if they are to attend an upcoming event.

The beauty spot in south-west England is hosting a stargazing evening on January 8th, the Somerset County Times reports.

Kicking off at 17:00 GMT at Dunster Tithe Barn, the astronomy gathering will run until 20:30 GMT and is part of BBC2's three-day run of sky-based live shows featuring professor Brian Cox.

Organisers are advising people to book in advance by phoning the national park's visitor centre at Dulverton, the newspaper notes.

And once a place is confirmed, it may be wise to either dig out some old outdoor clothing or to invest in a new outfit, with temperatures in the region at this time of year likely to be cold.

Exmoor has held national park status since 1954 and currently attracts approximately 1.4 million visitors each year.ADNFCR-2803-ID-800319497-ADNFCR
