Those who like a night walk now the evenings are warmer may appreciate a trip to the Peak District this month in which a guided trek will reveal a variety of bats.

Held at Calver Marshes on Friday May 20, the walk will be led by a park ranger and focus on the bats living in and around the boxes installed at the Calver Weir Restoration Project.

Hiking equipment may be handy for the trek, including waterproofs in case it is wet, while those taking part are advised to bring a torch to help navigate.

The walk begins at 20:30 BST at the Calver Crossroads.

And on June 5th, a daytime walk in the same area organised in conjunction with Derbyshire Ornithological Society will study the birdlife of Calver Marshes.

Other upcoming events include a walk this Saturday (May 14th) through the railway tunnels of Monsal Dale, with these making up part of the Monsal Trail.
