The latest edition of Trail Magazine has issued a guide to choosing waterproofs that may interest those seeking to buy outdoor clothing
Its gear guide noted that one key feature should be the ability of the garment to work well while wearing gloves and rucksacks
, with cuffs that can pull over gloves when it's wet but be retracted when undertaking scrambling activities.
A hood that permits good visibility and is wired so it can be shaped around the face of the wearer is another good feature, the article stated.
Pockets should be large enough to fit in pocket guides and Ordnance Survey maps
while out on the hill, it added.
Those keen to find a good waterproof garment may wish to check out items with such qualities at the nearest Go Outdoors store.
Clothing taken out on the mountain should be "colourful, warm, windproof and waterproof", the Mountain Rescue Service website states.
