Those keen to head for the slopes this winter with their ski trousers
may be interested in the Snowsports Evening in Kendal this Saturday (November 19th), which forms part of the Kendal Mountain Festival
A series of wintersports films are to be shown at the event in Kendal Town Hall and Nick Waggoner from US film makers Sweetgrass Productions will be speaking about how such productions make it from the slopes to the screen, while capturing the human element of such activities.
The four-day festival
begins today (November 17th) and also includes two presentations by a three-man team who set off for the Himalayas last year with their climbing ropes on a successful mission to make the first winter ascent of Gasherbrum II , one of the highest mountains in the world at 8,035 metres (26,361 ft).
In addition to the specialists sports nights, there will be over 50 films screened at the festival
, plus art and photographic exhibitions and competitions.
