An endurance event that includes mountain biking among its activities has announced the opening of registration to take part in its 2010 edition.
The iROC race will feature orienteering and running as well as cycling, with 400 places up for grabs in the three-day event.
It will take place over the bank holiday weekend of May 28th to 31st at Eastgate in County Durham, on the edge of the North Pennines area of outstanding natural beauty.
Six races will be held - including night events - and there will be activities for children as well, enabling the whole family to enjoy a mountain bike
Those who want to take part - or who are simply inspired by the event - may wish to invest in some running gear
For those visiting the North Pennines there is also plenty of fellwalking to be enjoyed, with peaks including Cross Fell, the highest mountain in England outside of the Lake District at 2,930 ft (893 m).
