Four new mountain bike
events will be held in Britain this year as part of a new scheme to encourage more people to get in the saddle.
As part of a partnership between UK Cycling Events and online retailer Wiggle, the Wiggle Super Series will see four such races being held along with ten road races this year, with these being aimed at people of all abilities, Wiggle's blog notes.
UK Cycling Events spokesman Martin Barden said: "Riders will be able to experience some stunning cycling in some really picturesque areas simply by turning up. Let us do the rest."Mountain bike
events in the series include the Ups and Downs race in the north downs on April 24th, the South Downs Epic in Chichester on June 27th and Falling Leaves in the New Forest on October 2nd.
Those keen to get into mountain biking might wish to get some cycling gear at their nearest Go Outdoors store.
Mountain biking fans keen to take part in the Falling Leaves race may also wish to contribute to discussions about the future of the sport in the New Forest.
The National Park Authority launched a public consultation this month on how outdoor recreation should be managed over the next two decades.
