Those who want to go walking in part of the Scottish Highlands will be able to overcome a road closure - with the help of a minibus service.

The road alongside Loch Arkaig will be closed from the end of this month until April 5th, but the contractors will be running a minibus service up Glen Dessary and Glen Pean that will take hikers towards popular walking routes and pick them up again later, the Mountaineering Council of Scotland (MCoS) has said.

Details of these have yet to be finalised, the MCoS has noted, stating people should look out for updates.

"As this is a very popular walking and climbing area we are working closely with the engineers and the contractors to try and ensure that access is made as easy as possible," it said.

The Loch, which lies west of the Great Glen, is overlooked by numerous peaks, the highest being Gulvain, a 3,238 ft Munro.ADNFCR-2803-ID-801530642-ADNFCR
