Those who are mad about hares can enjoy a March expedition to see some on the Peak District moors.
Run by Peak District National Park rangers, the event on March 19th starts at the Moorland Centre in Edale and is listed as suitable for "experienced walkers".
Good walking boots
and outdoor clothing
have been listed as important pieces of kit as the eight-mile route takes in steep hillsides and tricky paths in the quest to spot arctic hares in action.
The event runs from 10:45 GMT to 16:00 GMT and participants are advised to bring food and drink as well.
With spring on the way, there will be plenty of wildlife for those venturing outdoors to see and also the chance to undertake longer walks as the amount of daylight increases.
Another long walk arranged by Peak District National Park rangers takes place on March 20th, when a circular route sets out from Glossop across Chunal Moor and the Snake, climbing to over 2,000 ft above sea level.
