The emerging bands who have made it to the BBC Introducing stage for the Reading and Leeds Festivals next month have been named.

After a number of competitions to spot new talent, the stage will comprise a number of groups chosen by organising bodies Futuresound (Leeds) and Festival Republic (Reading).

These include the Mexanines as winners of Martin House's battle of the bands, as well as the likes of Anguish Sandwich, The Original Rudeboys, Save Your Breath and The Minutes.

Organisers noted that while the names may not be familiar, the stage has played host to a number of groups in the recent past who have gone onto bigger things, such as Everything Everything, Florence and The Machine, Pulled Apart By Horses and Dinosaur Pile Up.

Also on the stage will be the five runners up in the Futuresound Competition, with winners The Coopers getting to play on the Festival Republic Stage.
