Mountain Rescuers were called out yesterday (April 18th) after a climbed became stuck on Fleetwith Pike.
The Cockermouth team were alerted after a man became cragfast on the fell, above Maggie's Cross.
Members of the team were able to help him get out of his difficulty and walk down to Gatesgarth, a spokesman confirmed.
Those who are heading for the hills with a
climbing rope may need to ensure they are fully equipped, with other useful items including the right
climbing shoes and also correct clothing such as
waterproofs when the weather takes a turn for the worse.
Climbers may also ensure they do not take on cliffs and crags that are beyond their current abilities.
Cockermouth Mountain Rescue covers the north-east of the national park and previous incidents this year included a woman who suffered a head injury when she slipped while climbing from Honister to Haystacks, as well as a man injuring his ankle above Black Sail at the upper end of Ennerdale.
