The Whinlatter Forest Park is to stage a mountain biking day especially for ladies.

Women keen to jump on their mountain bikes can enjoy expert coaching and bike maintenance training at the Lake District site on March 27th, with UK downhill pro Helen Gaskell on hand to pass on her expert knowledge.

In addition to this, there will be a session on finding the right cycling clothing and food and drink is also provided in the package, which costs £25 from Cyclewise.

Such an event may appeal to ladies who fancy a day with two wheels, one saddle and no men.

The Whinlatter Forest Park includes the Altura Trail, which rises to 1,600 ft above sea level.

Located near Keswick, the park also includes a Go Ape forest adventure course and claims to be England's only mountain forest, as its boundaries contain Grisedale Pike, which is 2,595 ft (791 m) high.
