Ramblers who want to don their walking boots and rucksacks at a memorable location may enjoy taking a trip to the Keswick area.

According to Cameron McNeish, the author, broadcaster and well-known walking expert, this part of the Lake District boasts some of the national park's "most iconic mountains".

He will be showing other people the delights of the region at the upcoming Keswick Mountain Festival, when he will be guiding ramblers up Skiddaw.

Mr McNeish believes the trip up the 3,054 ft-high peak will be "accessible to people who are new to hill walking and want to learn more".

"I hope it will be a fun, stimulating and informative experience," Mr McNeish commented.

He will be joined by fellow broadcaster Helen Skelton during the walk on May 19th.

The trip up Skiddaw should be a relatively easy one for the Blue Peter presenter, following her recent exploits in the South Pole in aid of Sport Relief.ADNFCR-2803-ID-801296642-ADNFCR
