Some of those deciding to head abroad for the Diamond Jubilee bank holiday in June may wish to pack their fishing tackle as one destination identified as likely to be popular offers some outstanding angling.

Car hire comparison site carhiremarket.com has revealed its research has shown many do plan to leave the UK and based on car hire plans, Ireland will be popular.

It stated one place many will be enjoying is Lake Garadice in County Leitrim, which is well-known for its fishing, particularly bream, perch, pike and rudd.

The 200-acre lake also offers anglers and other visitors plenty of scenery and history, being dotted with islands bearing the ruins of castles and a temple to the pagan god Crom Cruaich.

Leitrim Tourism authority describes the entire county as being defined by water, with its other features including Europe's longest navigable inland waterway, the Shannon Erne Waterway, plus the Glencar Falls.ADNFCR-2803-ID-801333339-ADNFCR
