Those who like to go walking
or mountain biking in the Lake District can now have a go at 'glamping' if they do not fancy a night in a tent
Hawkshead Youth Hostel is now offering the chance for people to stay in a glamping pod for £30 a night, or £50 for a large five-person family pod.
With double glazing and central heating, it is very different to the normal camping
experience, although those who prefer the fresh air and a back-to-nature feel might still prefer tents
The hostel is following in the footsteps of the recently reopened Grinton Lodge near Richmond in North Yorkshire, which also offers the pods as well as a range of accommodation that includes en-suite rooms.
Those exploring the Lake District on mountain bikes
may particularly enjoy staying around Hawkshead, which is set in undulating rather than mountainous scenery.
Prime riding areas nearby include the woods and tarns of Claife Heights, which lie between Esthwaite Water and Windermere.
