and walking trousers
will be much in use by a church group planning to raise charity money by climbing the highest peaks in Wales, England and Scotland.
Help For Heroes and repairs to the church roof will be the beneficiaries of a bid by eight members of Uttoxeter Methodist Church to climb the trio of mountains inside 24 hours over the course of July 2nd and 3rd, the Uttoxeter Advertiser reports.
Wearing waterproof jackets
may be a priority for the group as they have been undertaking detailed preparation for the task, team member James Twynham explained.
He told the paper the group has "climbed both Snowdon and Scafell Pike in differing weather conditions so we are confident we can take whatever is thrown our way".
Many people will take on the Three Peaks Challenge for charity or simply the sense of achievement, with most attempts occurring in mid summer when the daylight hours are longest.
However, Wasdale Mountain Rescue Team has appealed to those climbing Scafell Pike not to blight the experience for others by leaving litter behind, noting this time of year often sees the mountain blighted by rubbish.
