A charity walker taking on Africa's highest mountain will need good walking boots
among her kit to help her complete the challenge.
Faye Morris from Reading is hoping to raise £20,000 for the British Heart Foundation through an ascent of Kilimanjaro, the Reading Chronicle reports.
She decided to take on the peak after husband Andy died of the rare disease endocarditis last year, which causes inflammation of the heart.
"Climbing all 19,342 feet of Kilimanjaro is a huge personal challenge for me, but I know Andy will be with me every step of the way," Ms Morris stated.
Good walking boots
will not be the only thing required for a Kilimanjaro climb. Rucksacks
to carry the basics will be needed, along with outdoor jackets able to deal with some cold temperatures, including at night as all but one of the routes to the top involve staying in tents
along the way.
Popular ways to the summit include the Lemosho, Mraangu, Machame and Rongai routes.
