fans who were disappointed at there being no Glastonbury in 2012 were clearly in a hurry to make sure they could be at the 2013 event - with all tickets sold an hour and 40 minutes after going online.
Organisers Michael and Emily Eavis noted this was a record for the festival
and said: "We're genuinely humbled by the sheer number of people who would like to come to the festival
and we dearly wish we could have you all along. Sadly, that just isn't possible."
Those who have managed to get a ticket or who will eagerly seek any returns may wish to buy a tent
soon to make sure they get a good one before the pre-festival
rush in the spring.
Galstonbury sold out despite the fact that not a single detail of the line-up has yet been announced, with this not due to happen until nearer the start of the event than in previous years.
The 2011 event saw the likes of U2, Coldplay, Beyonce and Elbow performing.
