Glastonbury revellers advised to bring waterproofs

Those coming to Glastonbury for the festival this week should bring their waterproofs and boots, the festival website has advised.

Glastonbury 2011 begins tomorrow (June 22nd) and those coming with their tents may have encountered picture posted on Twitter suggesting the site is a "mudbath".

However, organisers said these were from past festivals and the ground "really isn't" a quagmire, although it is wet.

And they invited people to see for themselves how the site looks via the live BBC webcam.

Some may consider bringing walking boots with them to the event, should more rain fall and combine with the effects of tens of thousands of feet to recreate the famous mud of Glastonbury past.

Many of those at the Isle of Wight festival came back wet after heavy rain, which has blighted southern England this month.

Sporting events like the cricket Test at Southampton and the start of Wimbledon have also been hit.
