Those heading up to the Lake District with their fishing tackle
may wish to take a camera if they are casting their fishing rods
on Windermere, as anyone snapping a convincing picture of a monster can get a year's free ferry rides.
Windermere Lake Ferries has said it is very skeptical about claimed sightings of a Nessie-type creature in the lake, most recently by a couple kayaking on the water.
They took a mobile phone picture, but the firm is unconvinced and has offered the free ticket to anyone who can prove the monster is genuine.
Tom Pickles and Sarah Harrington, who claimed to see the animal while out on the water, stated it was moving around 10 mph in speed - the fastest boats are allowed to travel on Windermere.
Windermere's monster mystery is not the only alleged mystical creature below the waters of a lake in the national park.
Bowscale Tarn was once said in local folklore to have two immortal fish living in it.
