Those wanting to go walking
this weekend have two festivals
to choose from in different parts of England.
Ross Walking Festival
takes place on Saturday and Sunday (October 9th and 10th), with walks of up to ten miles in length including views of the Black Mountains and the Malverns, riverside strolls by the Wye and one walk along an old railway line.
In Northumberland, the Haltwhistle Walking Festival
promises many hikes across the moors of the national park.
For those setting out for these or other festivals
in October, good walking boots
, waterproof jackets
could help make the weekend an enjoyable one.
Next week, festivals
will be beginning in Snowdonia and the Cheshire town of Bollington.
The former will include various walks in the valleys and up the high mountains of the national park, while Bollington's offerings vary from walks in the part of the Peak District lying in Cheshire and the culinary attractions of Bollington Sausage Week.
