Outdoor enthusiasts got some active inspiration at an event held in Sheffield recently.

The Cliffhanger event is one of the largest outdoor-themed festivals to be held in the UK and this year's event featured demos from the very best rock climbers, kayakers, mountain bikers, runners , skiers and snowboarders.

As well as these activities, visitors to Cliffhanger - which was held in Millhouses Park - could catch a glimpse of brave outdoor types challenging themselves to free run, an activity which involves jumping from buildings and other structures, without a harness or support.

Exhibitors included The Bike Tree, Fitness Unlimited, Mapland, and Robin Hood Watersports.

Outdoor fans keen to learn the ins and outs of climbing can also attend the upcoming BMC FUNdamentals of Climbing Workshop, due to be held in the city on July 8th.

Those who take the course will be taught about balance and coordination when climbing and given tips on how to properly transfer weight when scaling peaks and mountains.
