A champion fellrunner from Britain has unveiled plans to take on one of the toughest challenges in the US.
Jezz Bragg, who won this year's Fellsman race in the Yorkshire Dales, will be packing his running shoes
as he heads stateside to participate in the Western States Endurance Run, which covers 100 miles in California's Sierra Nevada mountain range, reports Grough.
It involves 15,540 ft of ascent and 22,970 ft of descent en route from Squaw Valley ski resort to Auburn.
He said: "The race is a complete adventure in itself combining remote mountainous trails, heat - particularly in the several canyons - and altitude in the early stages."
This will be the second time Bragg has gone with his running gear
to take part in the race, coming third in 2009.
People keen on trying a slightly less demanding running challenge might wish to look to somewhere not far from Jez Bragg's home county of Warwickshire.
The Birmingham Great Run will take place on October 23rd, a half-marathon through central and southern areas of the city.
