One of the few ski resorts in England is enjoying outstanding conditions for wintersports as the big freeze continues.
Allenheads in Northumberland has revealed that it has between 60 and 70 cms of snow at present, with more on the way.
It noted: "With more snow forecast and temperatures expected to remain below zero for at least the next week, the snow conditions will remain superb for many days yet," adding that the tows will be running from 11:00 to 16:00 GMT each day.
Those wishing to don some skiwear
and head for the slopes without having to trek up to Scotland may be keen to pay a visit to Allenheads, but have been advised to take a shovel in their cars due to the volume of snow.
While the comparative lack of altitude and latitude may make the resort less likely to get large amounts of snow than the Scottish highland venues, Allenheads noted that it still managed 35 days of skiing in 2008-09.
